Roggio del Filare Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore

The Roggio del Filare Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore from Velenosi is the absolute flagship wine of this Ascoli Piceno estate in the Marche region – awarded year after year by Gambero Rosso, Guida Oro Veronelli, and Duemilavini. Made from rigorously selected grapes from the oldest vines, this cuvée of Montepulciano and Sangiovese is among the best red wines in the entire region.

In the glass, it shines an intense ruby red with garnet reflections . The nose is overwhelming and complex, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, currant, and wild berries , accompanied by delicate spice notes, licorice, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla from the barrel aging. On the palate, it is warm, full-bodied, and profound, with silky, ripe tannins, high extract, and a very long, harmoniously balanced finish.

Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels , served at 16–18 °C with an alcohol content of 13.5–14.5% ABV . Ideal with braised oxtail, lamb shanks, wild boar ragout, and aged cheeses – 92 Falstaff points and aging potential of up to 15 years .
