Brecciarolo Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC

The Brecciarolo is the flagship of Velenosi in the Rosso Piceno Superiore – a red wine from the Marche region that shows what Montepulciano and Sangiovese can achieve together when the site and craftsmanship are right.

Behind the winery is Ercole Velenosi, who has built the family business into one of the leading estates in the region since the 1980s – with sites around Ascoli Piceno in the south of the Marche. Oenologist Attilio Pagli, known for his work in Tuscany and Abruzzo, is responsible for the aging: maturation in wooden barrels gives the wine structure and depth without masking its regional origin.

In the glass, the Brecciarolo shows dark blackberry and ripe plum, plus notes of violets and a hint of cedar from the barrel aging. The body is firm, the tannins ripe and well-integrated, the finish long with a spicy, slightly mineral aftertaste.
