St Aubin 1er Cru en Remilly

St Aubin 1er Cru en Remilly
St. Aubin lies one hill further than Puligny-Montrachet – and that is precisely what makes this Premier Cru so interesting: Burgundian class without paying the premium of the big names.
The En Remilly vineyard is among the best Premier Crus in the appellation. Limestone soils on the Côte de Beaune, a southeast exposure, and a good altitude – these are the conditions that give Chardonnay its minerality and vibrancy. Domaine Bertrand Bachelet cultivates its parcels in Meursault and St. Aubin with a focus on traditional winemaking: gentle pressing and aging in oak barrels with a controlled proportion of new oak.
In the glass, the 2023 vintage displays ripe pear, white peach, and beeswax, with a distinct limestone minerality underneath. The acidity is present but integrated – not sharp, but rather a long, salty-fresh finish. Medium-bodied, with a creamy texture thanks to barrel aging.
Serving suggestion: Store now with some air or until 2029. Serving temperature 11–13 °C. Pairs well with scallops with butter sauce, pike-perch on leek vegetables, or a young Comté cheese.
