St Aubin 1er Cru LC au Sud

St Aubin 1er Cru LC au Sud
St. Aubin is located right next to Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet – and the Premier Cru sites provide Chardonnay that lives up to this reputation. LC au Sud from Domaine Bertrand Bachelet shows why St. Aubin is one of the most exciting white wine addresses in the Côte de Beaune.
Bachelet cultivates his plots in St. Aubin with a focus on clean fruit and terroir-driven minerality. The au Sud site benefits from a calcareous subsoil and good southern exposure – both significantly shape the character of the wine.
In the glass, the 2023 shows light straw yellow. On the nose, white peach, citrus zest, and a fine hint of hazelnut. Taut on the palate, with lively acidity and a clear mineral-chalky texture that reminds one of the great neighbors in Puligny. The finish is long, salty, and dry.
- Serving temperature: 11–13 °C
- Food: Grilled turbot, scallops with Beurre blanc, goat cheese, or risotto with Parmesan
