Pommard Rouge

Pommard stands for red wines with nerve and substance — dark fruit, firm tannins, and a finish that lingers longer than expected. The 2023 from Domaine Bertrand Bachelet clearly shows this character: not a polished showcase Burgundy, but a wine with attitude.

Bachelet is a small family winery in the Côte de Beaune with plots in classic vineyards around Pommard. The region is known for its iron-rich, clayey soils — which give the wines their typical density and tannin structure, which mellows beautifully with time in the cellar.

In the glass, the 2023 shows blackberry and black cherry, plus a note of dark chocolate and a hint of earth in the background. The tannins are present but not harsh — they still need a few years to integrate. Good body, medium-length finish with a slightly spicy note.
