Secondine Barbaresco DOCG
The Secondine from Prunotto shows what Barbaresco stands for: Nebbiolo with depth, but without the power of its big brother, Barolo.
Prunotto is one of the most traditional names in Piedmont. The winery from Alba, now part of the Antinori group, has been aging wines in the classic sites of the Langhe for decades – with a focus on varietal quality and artisanal precision in the cellar. The Secondine site lies in the heart of the Barbaresco DOCG, on the calcareous tuff soil that gives the Nebbiolo its characteristic minerality.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red with garnet-red reflections. On the nose, raspberry and dried rose combine with a fine undertone of licorice, tobacco, and white pepper – classic Nebbiolo signature, which points to careful aging in wooden barrels. On the palate, the wine appears supple: the tannins are ripe and silky, the structure balanced, the finish long and spicy.
- Temperature: 16–18 °C, preferably decanted for 30 minutes
- Pairs with: Brasato al Barolo, leg of lamb with rosemary, porcini mushroom risotto, or aged Parmigiano Reggiano
