Prunotto Bansella Nizza DOCG

Barbera from the Nizza region of Piedmont — that means: dense red fruit, lively acidity, and a tannic structure that provides depth without being restrictive. The Bansella comes from Prunotto's single-vineyard project of the same name and demonstrates what this appellation is capable of.

Prunotto is one of the oldest wineries in Piedmont—founded in Alba in 1904, part of the Antinori Group since 1994, but with its own distinct character. The Nizza DOCG, an independent appellation within Barbera d'Asti since 2014, specializes in the calcareous soils of Monferrato. It is precisely these soils that give Barbera its structure and longevity.

In the glass, the Bansella displays aromas of dark cherry and blackberry, along with violets, a hint of licorice, and a delicate chocolate note from aging in first- and second-use oak barrels. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, with the characteristic Barbera acidity that keeps the wine fresh despite its body. A long, spicy finish.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2029.
Goes well with: Tajarin with meat ragù, grilled entrecôte, ossobuco or mature pecorino.
