Prinz Salm Grünschiefer Riesling
The green slate soil on which the distinctive Grünschiefer Riesling grows is unique and found only at the Prinz Salm winery. This Grünschiefer Riesling displays a vibrant yellow color and possesses a mineral bouquet with aromas of pome and stone fruit. On the palate, it is clear, smooth, and delicately juicy, with very fine acidity and vegetal notes, along with a hint of aged wood. The wine retains a mineral character in the background, exhibiting excellent balance and a very good finish. A very elegant and profound wine of character, unmistakably reflecting its origin.

The German winery Prinz Salm is now in its 32nd generation of family ownership and is located in Wallhausen in the Nahe region. It was likely founded around the year 1200. The owner of the winery is Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm, who cultivates 17 hectares of vineyards. The vineyard soils consist primarily of green slate. In addition to Riesling, the main grape variety grown at Prinz Salm, other varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir, and Pinot Noir are also produced. Among the best vineyard sites are the Johannisberg in Wallhausen and the Scharlachberg in Bingen. Up to 120,000 bottles of wine are produced here annually.
