Sommerlocher Steinrossel Riesling dry 1st Growth VDP - QW Nahe 0.75L
Red slate defines this Riesling from the Sommerlocher Steinrossel single vineyard in the Nahe — and you notice it from the first sip. The Prinz Salm winery, one of the oldest noble houses in German viticulture with roots dating back to the 12th century, manages the vineyard as a VDP.Erste Lage and relies on artisanal care that allows the terroir room to express itself.
In the glass, the wine shows aromas of ripe pear, pineapple, and peach, underpinned by a fine minerality owed to the red slate. The acidity structure is precise and invigorating, the body medium-weight with a clear line. The finish is long, salty, and characterized by a subtle stone fruit aftertaste.
On the table, it pairs well with grilled sea bass with herb butter, a goat cheese from the Nahe, or a light risotto with peas and mint. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. If you like Riesling that prioritizes depth over approachability, this is the right choice for you.

The German winery Prinz Salm is now managed in the 32nd generation and is located in Wallhausen in the Nahe region. It was probably founded around the year 1200. The owner of the winery is Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm and calls 18 ha of vineyards his own. The soils of the vineyards mainly consist of green slate. In addition to the primarily grown grape variety Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir or even Pinot Noir grapes are also processed into wines at the Prinz Salm winery. The best locations include, for example, the Wallhäuser Johannisberg or the Binger Scharlachberg. Up to 120,000 bottles of wine are produced here annually.
