Felseneck Riesling Spätlese VDP.GROSSE LAGE PW Nahe 0.75L

The Felseneck site on the Nahe is one of the classified VDP Grosse Lagen — and Prinz Salm, one of Germany's oldest noble wineries, has been cultivating it for generations. The Riesling grows here on weathered porphyry and slate, soils that give the wine a clear mineral line that is not lost even through the sweetness.

In the glass, the Spätlese shows ripe mirabelle plum, lychee, and delicate jasmine blossom, underpinned by a hint of lemon zest and fine slate mineral. On the palate, a lively acidity carries the natural residual sweetness without the wine appearing heavy or sticky — the balance is the decisive factor here. The finish is long, spicy, and characterized by a slightly salty aftertaste.

Luscious Rieslings of this class pair well with blue cheese such as Roquefort or Gorgonzola, with Asian dishes with coconut milk and chili, or with desserts based on peach and apricot. It also cuts a fine figure on its own as the end of an evening. Serving temperature: 8–10 °C.
