Merlot VDP.Estate Wine dry QW Rheinhessen 0.75L
A Merlot that shows what Rheinhessen is capable of in the red wine sector: full-bodied, yet soft in structure – not an angular tannin block, but a smooth red wine with a clear character.
Prinz Salm winery is one of the region's most traditional estates. As a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), the estate stands for clearly defined origin and a consistent focus on quality in the vineyard. Rheinhessen offers favorable conditions for Merlot: warm summers, deep soils, and long ripening periods.
In the glass, the wine displays aromas of blackberry and plum, with a subtle spiciness in the background. The tannins are ripe and integrated, the acidity restrained – resulting in a well-rounded, approachable red wine without any harsh edges. The finish is pleasant and fruity.
Pairs well with pasta with meat sauce, grilled entrecôte, or a hearty pot roast. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Best enjoyed now – this wine is meant to be savored, not aged.

The German winery Prinz Salm is now managed in the 32nd generation and is located in Wallhausen in the Nahe region. It was probably founded around the year 1200. The owner of the winery is Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm and calls 18 ha of vineyards his own. The soils of the vineyards mainly consist of green slate. In addition to the primarily grown grape variety Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir or even Pinot Noir grapes are also processed into wines at the Prinz Salm winery. The best locations include, for example, the Wallhäuser Johannisberg or the Binger Scharlachberg. Up to 120,000 bottles of wine are produced here annually.
