Forster Ziegler Riesling dry Erstes Gewächs

The vineyard is situated on the western slope of Forst and is arguably the most famous vineyard site in Forst, if not the entire Palatinate. Spectacular wines are produced here year after year. The wines are predestined for top quality. Not only Goethe, but also Otto von Bismarck greatly appreciated the Forster Ungeheuer: "This Ungeheuer tastes monstrously good to me." Here, however, it wasn't a monster, but a person's name that shaped the vineyard. In the 17th century, there was a town clerk in Deidesheim named Johann Adam Ungeheuer, who died in 1699. A tombstone bearing the name Ungeheuer can be found at the monastery church in Mußbach. The grapes benefited from the vintage and reached optimal ripeness very late. In the cellar, the wine was left to its own devices and fermented for just under four weeks. The result is opulence and power. Paired with the finesse and elegance of Riesling, a great wine has been created that, despite its complexity, possesses playfulness and finesse. The fine acidity lends it a delicate note and gives it aging potential for the next 8-10 years.
