Bassermann Jordan Auf der Mauer Riesling dry
Auf der Mauer is the entry point into the serious Bassermann-Jordan universe — a Riesling that does not put a single vineyard in the foreground, but combines the best of Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg into a cohesive whole.
The base wines come from four premier vineyard sites in the Mittelhaardt region: Hohenmorgen, Grainhübel, Kalkofen, and Reiterpfad. The vineyards lie directly on the edge of the village on a small plateau supported by old sandstone walls—hence the name. Spontaneously fermented in wooden barrels, then aged in stainless steel tanks, the result is a Riesling with a full fruit structure, a soft texture, and distinct varietal character: ripe grapes, not dominated by terroir characteristics, but by the regional Palatinate interpretation of the grape variety. It has an eight-year drinking window from the vintage and was awarded 92 points in the Gault Millau guide and first place in the dry category at the International Riesling Competition.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Goes well with pike-perch fillet with butter sauce, Palatinate Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach) or mature mountain cheese.
