Enate Chardonnay DO Barrique

Enate Chardonnay DO Barrique
A Chardonnay that showcases Somontano's capabilities: body, complexity, and a freshness rarely found in this combination. Aging in barriques gives the wine structure without overpowering the fruit.
Enate lies at the foot of the Pyrenees, not far from the town of Barbastro. The winery cultivates its vineyards according to organic principles and produces wine exclusively from its own grapes. Behind the wines is Jesús Artajona, who studied in Bordeaux and worked for Château Margaux, among others—his signature style is French in character, characterized by both power and elegance.
In the glass, the Chardonnay displays tropical notes of pineapple and papaya, complemented by grapefruit and a hint of hazelnut. The refreshing acidity keeps the wine lively, while a delicate vanilla note from barrel aging rounds out the profile. The finish is long and pleasantly dry.
Best served at 10–12 °C . Goes well with grilled cod, chicken in cream sauce, or a mature Manchego cheese.

Founded in 1991 in Somontano, Aragon, Bodega Enate has since become one of the most influential names in the Spanish wine scene, now cultivating 500 hectares of vineyards at the foot of the Pyrenees. What sets Enate apart from other bodegas is its deeply ingrained three-pronged identity: quality winemaking, unwavering sustainability, and a profound connection to contemporary art, which is reflected even in the wine labels. Vineyards at an altitude of around 600 meters, sandy loam soils, and a daily temperature range of up to 15°C ensure slow-ripening grapes with pronounced varietal character. The result is wines that prioritize balance and elegance – not a flashy display, but precise craftsmanship from the heart of Aragon.
