Riesling Ried Heiligenstein Alte Reben 1ÖTW
The Heiligenstein vineyard near Langenlois is considered one of Austria's best Riesling sites—volcanic weathered soil of cementstone (Zobing sandstone) that gives the wine a mineral depth rarely found in the New World. Willi Bründlmayer has cultivated his plots here for decades; the "Old Vines" selection comes from vines that are well over thirty years old.
In the glass, the wine displays the classic Heiligenstein signature: citrus peel, white peach, and a distinctive hint of light stone spice and herbs. The acidity is firm but without harshness—embedded in a dense, oily-textured substance, the kind only old vines can produce. The finish is long and lingering with a salty-mineral note.
Drinking window: 2026–2035 , or even longer. Decanting is recommended. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
