Chardonnay Ried Steinberg

The Chardonnay from the Ried Steinberg vineyard is Bründlmayer's flagship wine – a white wine that combines Austrian precision with Burgundian maturity.

The Bründlmayer winery in the Kamptal region is one of Austria's most prestigious estates. Willi Bründlmayer has been cultivating the Steinberg vineyard for decades and achieved his first major international breakthrough with this Chardonnay. The Kamptal location provides the mineral foundation that distinguishes this wine from many other Chardonnays.

In its aging process, Bründlmayer relies on a combination of Austrian and French oak – carefully dosed so that the wood supports the fruit without overpowering it. In the glass, the Steinberg displays ripe yellow pear, hazelnut, and a hint of toasted brioche. The palate is supple and dense, with a vibrant acidity that lends the wine freshness despite its power. The finish is long, spicy, and mineral – the Kamptal terroir remains perceptible until the very last sip.

Serving suggestion: Decant before pouring – 20 to 30 minutes will significantly open up the wine. Serving temperature 12–14 °C. Pairs well with veal medallions with morel sauce, roasted lobster, or aged mountain cheese. Drinking window: now until 2030.
