Bründlmayer Kamptal Terrassen Riesling DAC

The Kamptal terraces are characterized by both the barren primary rock soil (with loess and clay deposits on the lower terraces) and the climate: the vineyards lie at an altitude of between 200 and 300 meters at the confluence of the Danube and Kamptal valleys. The ample daytime warmth contributes to the ripeness and richness of the grapes, while the Kamptal's updraft draws in the cool air from the Waldviertel region in the evenings and at night, preserving freshness and fruitiness. The ripe grapes are hand-picked into small crates and very gently processed using a pneumatic press. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at 15-20°C and then bottled directly on its fine lees. Even as a young wine, the Riesling Kamptaler Terrassen is expressive and exceptionally compact. This fresh, fruity, and mineral Riesling from primary rock and loess soils harmonizes with seafood, smoked fish and other cold appetizers, grilled fish, pork or veal cutlets, roast or baked chicken or rabbit, Wiener Schnitzel, but especially with many Asian dishes such as stir-fries, curries, steamed fish with vegetables, etc. James Suckling 2021: Top 100
