Bründlmayer Riesling Heiligenstein Lyra
The Heiligenstein vineyard is one of Austria's great Riesling sites—a volcanic bedrock massif in the Kamptal DAC that imparts a distinctive mineral character to the wines. Willi Bründlmayer has cultivated this steep slope for decades using the Lyra training system, which divides the vine leaves into two arches, thus maximizing sun exposure while simultaneously allowing for air circulation. The result: concentrated grapes with a fine acid structure, typical of the Heiligenstein.
In the glass, this Riesling reveals remarkable depth: passion fruit and white peach mingle with cool mint and a hint of light tobacco. The acidity is present but refined—not sharp, but a vibrant line that carries the long, spicy-mineral finish.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C . Pairs well with pike-perch with beurre blanc, Viennese fried chicken, or a mature mountain cheese. Those who wait will be rewarded—the wine still has aging potential.
