Pinot Noir Reserve

Bründlmayer's Pinot Noir Reserve from the Kamptal shows what Lower Austria can do with Burgundy: no blatant tannins, but finesse and depth.

The Bründlmayer winery in Langenlois is one of the leading estates in the Kamptal region – known for its precise white wines, but equally dedicated to Pinot Noir. The vineyards' primary rock soils and the continental climate with its cool nights provide the foundation for red wines with a clear structure and freshness.

In the glass, the 2020 Reserve displays aromas of sour cherry and blackberry, along with dried herbs and a hint of elderflower. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and lively acidity, the finish remains both fruity and saline. Not a heavy, extract-rich style, but a Pinot Noir that prioritizes elegance.

Recommendation: Duck breast with cherry sauce, baked salmon trout, or a mature mountain cheese. Serving temperature 16–17 °C. Drinking window 2024–2028.
