Sauvignon Blanc

The Sauvignon Blanc from Landerer shows what the Kaiserstuhl can do with this grape variety: clear structure, aromatic precision, and a freshness that does not tire even on warm evenings.

The Landerer winery is located in Vogtsburg-Oberbergen in the Kaiserstuhl – one of the warmest wine-growing regions in Germany, characterized by volcanic loess soil over weathered rock. This soil warmth gives the Sauvignon Blanc ripeness and volume without sacrificing the varietal-typical tension. The Landerer family is one of the reliable names in Baden: clean craftsmanship, with a clear sense of origin and no tendency toward over-embellishment.

In the glass, the wine shows lively, firmly integrated acidity and precise aromatics. On the nose, gooseberry, grapefruit zest, and a hint of green bell pepper – plus a subtle herbal note reminiscent of elderflower and fresh thyme. On the palate, the wine appears lean and straightforward: no heaviness, no residual sugar to distort the fruit. The finish is dry, salty, and of pleasant length – a sign of the mineral subsoil on which the vines stand.

Landerer

Landerer Winery – this is Burgundy that tastes of volcanic soil. Literally. On the Kaiserstuhl, where ancient volcanic rock forms the soil, the Landerer family has cultivated their vines for generations. The Kirchberg, Eichberg, and Henkenberg vineyards give the wines something that can't be forced – it has to be allowed to happen. Johannes Landerer understood this early on. At 17, he planted his first vineyard, experimented in the barren rock, and developed his own style. In 2016, after the sudden death of his father, Thomas, he took over the winery – a heavy burden he bears with respect and passion. What drives him: that you can truly taste in the glass where the wine comes from. Vintage, soil, microclimate – everything should be perceptible. To achieve this, his team works in harmony with nature, consciously reduces yields, and gives the grapes time to ripen. Wine that tells a story. People who listen.
