Landerer Gestühl Weissburgunder

Landerer Gestühl Weissburgunder
The Gestühl Pinot Blanc from Landerer is not a pleasant everyday wine — it shows what the grape variety can do when you give it time and soil.
The Landerer winery is located in the Markgräflerland, the southernmost tip of Baden, where proximity to the Kaiserstuhl and Burgundian soil characteristics come together. The family manages their sites with a clear focus on artisanal vinification — spontaneous fermentation included. It is precisely this wild fermentation that gives the Gestühl its characteristic spice, which sets it apart from standard Pinot Blancs.
On the nose, ripe apple, a hint of nougat and wood, plus a fine spontaneous fermentation spice reminiscent of bread dough and quince. On the palate, density: firm structure, noticeable minerality, juicy phenolics — not a soft caress, but tension. The finish shows green apple peel, dry and long.
- Temperature: 12–14 °C
- Pairs with: Veal sweetbreads, zander on lentils, aged mountain cheese, or pasta with truffle butter

Landerer Winery – this is Burgundy that tastes of volcanic soil. Literally. On the Kaiserstuhl, where ancient volcanic rock forms the soil, the Landerer family has cultivated their vines for generations. The Kirchberg, Eichberg, and Henkenberg vineyards give the wines something that can't be forced – it has to be allowed to happen. Johannes Landerer understood this early on. At 17, he planted his first vineyard, experimented in the barren rock, and developed his own style. In 2016, after the sudden death of his father, Thomas, he took over the winery – a heavy burden he bears with respect and passion. What drives him: that you can truly taste in the glass where the wine comes from. Vintage, soil, microclimate – everything should be perceptible. To achieve this, his team works in harmony with nature, consciously reduces yields, and gives the grapes time to ripen. Wine that tells a story. People who listen.
