Leiselheimer Chardonnay Qualitätswein trocken "Schwarze Erde"

A Chardonnay with substance: The "Schwarze Erde" (Black Earth) from Leiselheim shows what Kaiserstuhl volcanic soil can extract from a classic Burgundy variety – complex, dry, with real bite.

Weingut Landerer works in the southern Kaiserstuhl, where deep volcanic soils (loess, basalt) give the wines mineral tension. The name "Schwarze Erde" refers directly to this origin. Chardonnay has a long tradition here – the warm slopes produce fully ripe grapes, and the soil provides the necessary structure.

In the glass: On the nose, roasted notes, some tree bark, and ripe quince, plus exotic hints of papaya and pumpkin. On the palate, finely juicy with a firm body and distinct backbone. Ripe pear and papaya meet oak spice and a light smokiness. The wine feels very dry, almost astringent – this is not a flaw, but an expression of seriousness. In the finish, mineral saltiness, spice, and ripe quince with good length.
