Riesling Reserve vom Rotliegenden QW Rheinhessen 0.75L
Rotliegend — this is the red sandstone and slate that makes the Roter Hang near Nierstein and Nackenheim one of the most famous vineyard sites in Rheinhessen. Kühling-Gillot works these soils biodynamically, and the Riesling Reserve clearly shows this in the glass: cool minerality, clear structure, not a gram of over-ripeness.
The nose shows citrus zest, white peach and a fine herbal note. On the palate, a lively acidity carries the wine through — not an edgy rise, but a long-drawn line that reaches into the salty finish. Body and fruit are in balance, which gives the Riesling tension without appearing intrusive.
Kühling-Gillot is one of the wineries that has redefined Rheinhessen internationally. Carolin Gillot and Oliver Kühling focus on biodynamic cultivation and clear work of origin — the Reserve is an expression of how precise Riesling can become on Rotliegend soils.
Served at 10–12 °C, it pairs well with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, fried zander or a ripe goat cheese. It also works well as a standalone companion for a long summer evening.

Carolin and Oliver Battenfeld's winery is located on the Rhine terrace. Kühling-Gillot is distinguished by its organic farming practices, which have been expanded to include biodynamic methods since 2005. For Carolin and Oliver Battenfeld, the European hare symbolizes fertility and joie de vivre. In recent years, the winery has developed into one of the absolute top producers in Germany. The slate soil of the famous Roter Hang (Red Slope) around Nierstein and Nackenheim produces wines whose blend of delicate fruit and vibrant minerality represents something of an ideal example of a great dry wine.
