Oppenheim Chardonnay Old Vines dry QW Rheinhessen 0.75L
Chardonnay from Oppenheim is no coincidence — the calcareous soils of the Rhine front give the grape variety exactly what it needs: minerality, tension, structure. Kühling-Gillot, one of the most well-known organic wineries in Rheinhessen, vinifies this wine from old vines that are deeply rooted in the limestone marl soils of the Oppenheim sites.
In the glass, the Chardonnay shows a clear, yellow-gold color. In the nose, ripe pear, a hint of white peach, and a subtle creamy note. On the palate, it feels full-bodied without appearing heavy — the acidity keeps the wine lively, the finish is long and characterized by fine minerality.
Good with veal medallions with herb butter, with pasta with truffle oil, or with a strong fish dish like zander on leek vegetables. It also cuts a fine figure with a mature Comté or Gruyère. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.

Carolin and Oliver Battenfeld's winery is located on the Rhine terrace. Kühling-Gillot is distinguished by its organic farming practices, which have been expanded to include biodynamic methods since 2005. For Carolin and Oliver Battenfeld, the European hare symbolizes fertility and joie de vivre. In recent years, the winery has developed into one of the absolute top producers in Germany. The slate soil of the famous Roter Hang (Red Slope) around Nierstein and Nackenheim produces wines whose blend of delicate fruit and vibrant minerality represents something of an ideal example of a great dry wine.
