Psenner Grappa Barrique Riserva

Psenner Grappa Barrique Riserva
A mature South Tyrolean grappa with a clear structure and warm wood character — the Barrique Riserva from Psenner shows what happens when alpine pomace quality meets patient maturation.
Psenner has been distilling in Tramin, nestled in the heart of South Tyrol's vineyards, for generations. For this grappa, pomace from Vernatsch, Pinot Noir, and Gewürztraminer grapes is distilled in traditional copper pot stills—the slowest and most elaborate method of grappa production. After a year of stabilization in stainless steel tanks, the distillate then matures in French oak barrels , which impart color, depth, and a smooth, creamy texture.
In the glass, it shines with a warm amber hue. The nose opens with vanilla and caramel, followed by the floral and spicy notes of Gewürztraminer. On the palate, it is soft and rounded, with subtle roasted aromas and a long, dry finish with a hint of walnut.
Neat at room temperature after a meal — classically with espresso or a piece of dark chocolate. It also makes a fine, understated finale to an autumn menu featuring game.
