Psenner Grappa Barrique Classic
A mature grappa from Trentino-South Tyrol that shows what barrique aging can do for a pomace brandy: rounder, warmer, more complex.
Psenner is one of South Tyrol's most traditional distilleries. The pomace is continuously distilled in copper pot stills—a process that yields a clear, expressive distillate. The spirit then matures for a year before spending a further twelve months in 225-liter French oak barriques.
This two-stage maturation process shapes the profile: On the nose, almonds, vanilla, and a hint of dried fruit. On the palate, a soft texture; the typical grappa spice remains noticeably in the background. The finish is long, slightly woody, with lingering warmth.
Neat at room temperature — ideally after a meal as a digestif, in a small grappa glass. For those who prefer it cooler: slightly chilled to 16–18 °C. Also an interesting choice as a base for a Grappa Sour with lemon juice and a splash of honey syrup.
