"Handwriting" QbA dry

An approachable Palatinate red wine with a clear origin and ready-to-drink character — Handschrift is the everyday wine from the Lergenmüller house, which doesn't take any major detours.

The Lergenmüller winery is one of the established names in the Palatinate. The region between the Haardt Mountains and the Rhine plain boasts some of Germany's warmest wine-growing areas—long ripening periods and fully ripe grapes are the rule here, not the exception. "Handschrift" ( Handwritten Signature) represents the uncomplicated, expertly crafted end of their range: not a single-vineyard wine, not aged in oak barrels for extended periods, but honest Palatinate fruit.

In the glass, the wine displays dark cherry and blackberry, with a hint of red plum. The body is medium-bodied, the tannins soft and well-integrated—no need to decant. The finish is short to medium-long with a touch of spice.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Ready to drink now, no further aging required. Pairs easily with

  • Pasta with tomato sauce or Bolognese sauce
  • grilled sausages and autumn vegetables
  • medium-aged mountain cheese from the board

Lergenmüller

The German winery, headquartered in the Palatinate region, was founded in 1538 and is currently managed by Jürgen and Stefan Lergenmüller. With 195 hectares under vine, it is one of the largest wineries in the Palatinate and produces up to 850,000 bottles of wine annually. The vines are cultivated at four different locations on soils of limestone, loess, and variegated sandstone, providing them with ample minerals. Controlled irrigation and the abundant sunshine in the Palatinate contribute to optimal growth. Lergenmüller's portfolio includes white wines made from grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, as well as red wines from varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot, and others.
