Gamla White Brut

Gamla White Brut is a dry sparkling wine made from Chardonnay: clearly structured, fresh, and just as suitable for an aperitif as for the dinner table.

Behind it is the Golan Heights Winery, founded in 1983 in Katzrin in the north of Israel and one of the country's defining wineries. The grapes come from Galilee. The sparkling wine is made using traditional bottle fermentation and matures for one year on the lees. This yeast aging gives the Chardonnay structure and a delicate yeast note that accompanies the fruit without covering it up.

In the glass, typical for Chardonnay, citrus fruits and green apple are in the foreground. Added to this are a lively acidity, a fine perlage, and a dry, clean finish. The style is Brut, meaning tart and without sweet fullness.

Serve it at 6–8 °C as an aperitif or with oysters, sushi, fried shrimp, and fresh goat cheese. It also goes well with fried fish or vegetable tempura because the perlage and acidity absorb fat.

The Winery

Golan Heights Winery

The Golan Heights Winery – vineyards north of the Sea of Galilee, at altitudes between 400 and 1,100 meters. Volcanic soils, cool climate – the best conditions for wine. In 1983, four kibbutzim and moshavim joined forces and founded the winery in Katzrin.

In 1992, winemaker Victor Schoenfeld joined, with experience from France and America. His influence contributed significantly to the success.

The multi-award-winning Yarden line is adorned with a mosaic-decorated oil lamp. "Yarden" – the Hebrew word for Jordan. A wine region that surprises and inspires.
