Yarden Petit Verdot

Petit Verdot rarely plays the leading role – on the basalt soils of the Golan Heights, the grape variety shows what it can do when given the necessary space.

The Golan Heights Winery has been producing since 1983 on the volcanic highlands between 400 and 1,200 meters above sea level. The combination of cool nights, intense sunlight, and mineral-rich soils ensures slow ripening and distinct structure – ideal conditions for a variety that needs time.

In the glass, deep ruby red with a violet rim. On the nose, blackberry, black plum, and a hint of dried violets, underlaid with cedar wood and dark chocolate. On the palate, dense but well-integrated tannin, lively acidity, and a long finish with notes of black pepper and tobacco. A wine with backbone that can handle a few more years of bottle aging.

Drinking recommendation: Now with pan-seared saddle of lamb, braised beef shoulder, or hearty hard cheese. Serving temperature 17–18 °C.
