Elena Walch, an architect by profession, has dedicated herself exclusively and with great commitment to her own vineyards since 1985. "Good wine does not grow by itself!" says Elena Walch when you talk to her about quality. Thus, the career changer has uncompromisingly transformed the two South Tyrolean cru sites Castel Ringberg and Kastelaz, both solely owned by the Walch family, in recent years.

Piece by piece, the pergola planted with Vernatsch had to give way to modern Guyot systems with grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, and Merlot. Low yields, healthy grapes, and gentle aging with extremely targeted use of wood produce polished, fruity, and elegant white wines with fine varietal style, as well as full-bodied and harmonious red wines, pure "tigers on velvet paws".

In the glass, this wine from Elena Walch shines in a deep, intense ruby red. The bouquet of the Merlot is multi-layered and shows aromas of wild strawberries, dark chocolate, a little mint, and subtle wood. On the palate, the Selezione Merlot presents itself full-bodied and supple with well-integrated acidity. The tannins are compact and lead to a spicy finish.
