Cederberg Merlot Shiraz

Cederberg Merlot Shiraz
Powerful, velvety, with a long spicy finish — this cuvée of Merlot and Shiraz shows what the Cederberg area in the Western Cape of South Africa can do.
The Cederberg lies at an altitude of over 1000 meters in the mountain range of the same name, around 200 kilometers north of Cape Town. The cool nights and intense sunlight ensure slowly ripening grapes with high aromatic density. 14 months of barrique aging give the cuvée structure and depth without overpowering the fruit.
In the glass, ripe plum, dark blackberry, and a hint of clove appear. The tannins are velvety and well-integrated, the body full with noticeable extract and melt. In the aftertaste, there is a spicy, slightly peppery note — typical for the Shiraz portion.
Pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary, braised beef shoulder, or a strong hard cheese like Manchego. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C.
