St. Andreas Weißburgunder Steingrube GG QW Großes Gewächs 0.75L
Pinot Blanc from the Andreasberg monopole site, aged in new tonneaux barrels — the Schloss Ortenberg winery delivers one of the most characterful Pinots Blancs from Baden with the Steingrube.
The winery is located on the edge of the Black Forest near Offenburg and cultivates the Steingrube south-facing slope on granite weathering soil. This subsoil gives the wine its concise mineral basic tension — not a soft, broad Pinot, but a wine with backbone. The tonneaux aging adds structure without covering up the fruit.
In the glass, aromas of white peach, yellow apple and quince appear, underscored by a hint of hazelnut and fresh chalk. The palate is dense and full-bodied, the acidity precisely integrated, the finish long and slightly spicy.
Pairs with veal medallions with morel sauce, grilled turbot or a mature mountain cheese. Drinking temperature: 11–13 °C.
