St. Andreas Schlossberg Riesling GG QW Großes Gewächs 0.75L

The Schlossberg is one of the best Riesling sites in Baden — steep, well-exposed to the sun, with weathered granite soil that gives the wine its characteristic spice. The Schloss Ortenberg winery, nestled in the Ortenau at the foot of the Black Forest foothills, vinifies this Riesling as a Grosses Gewächs: the highest quality level of the VDP, dry, single-vineyard, without compromise.

In the glass, the St. Andreas Schlossberg shows complex aromatics: ripe pineapple and wood sorrel on the nose, plus a mineral undertone reminiscent of damp granite. On the palate, a lively, precise acidity carries the fruit without dominating — the body remains taut, the finish long and spicy.

Served at 10–12 °C, it unfolds its full potential. At the table, it pairs with zander on Beurre blanc, grilled turbot, or a heartier poultry dish with lemon sauce. Those who drink it pure get a Riesling that clearly expresses the independence of the Baden terroir.
