Pinot Gris "Granit" Schloss Ortenberg

The Grauburgunder “Granit” from the Schloss Ortenberg winery shows what the Ortenau region can get out of this grape variety: clearly structured, with mineral depth and a pleasantly dry finish.

Ortenberg Castle is located in the northern Black Forest, not far from Offenburg. The winery is one of the traditional estates of the Ortenau region – an area whose weathered granite soils impart a distinctive spiciness and freshness to its white wines. The name "Granite" says it all: it refers directly to the mineral-rich subsoil on which these vines grow.

In the glass, the wine displays aromas of yellow apple, pear, and a hint of white peach. A subtle stony note evokes the granite soil. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with lively acidity without harshness and a creamy texture. The finish is dry, long, and slightly spicy.
