Schmitges Riesling dry 1.0L

A Riesling for everyday life that can do more than its price suggests: fresh, uncomplicated, with the typical Mosel character in the glass.

Weingut Schmitges has been managing vineyards on the Middle Mosel around Erden and Traben-Trarbach for generations – one of the classic Riesling addresses where slate and cool nights give the wine its characteristic acidity structure. This entry-level Riesling shows what the region is capable of even in the accessible segment.

Citrus zest and green apple dominate in the glass, accompanied by a light hint of white peach. The acidity is lively but without sharpness – a juicy pull that keeps the mouth fresh. The finish remains pleasantly short and clean without lingering. Moderate alcohol makes it a glass that can be opened easily at lunch or in the evening.

Walter L.

Mosel Riesling par excellence!

A liter wine at a high level. Wonderful sweet-acid ratio. Exciting drinking pleasure, because new aromas can always be smelled and tasted. White peach and lychee dominate the fruit. Not quite cheap...

Weingut Schmitges

The Schmitges family – sixth-generation Riesling makers, unconventional thinkers and newcomers to the industry. Andreas and Kilian focus on deliberately low yields, ungrafted vines, and meticulous vinification. Hand-harvesting, gentle processing, cool, slow, sometimes spontaneous fermentation – the result: individual Rieslings that perfectly reflect the vintage and vineyard site. Their passion lies with the steep slopes: Erdener Prälat and Erdener Treppchen. What does that mean? Up to 100 percent manual labor – not just during the harvest. Immense effort, physical exertion, and maximum passion. And you can taste it in every sip.
