Schmitges Rivaner dry
An uncomplicated everyday wine from the Moselle that delivers exactly what it promises: fresh fruit, light body and a clean finish.
The Schmitges winery cultivates vineyards on the Middle Moselle, known primarily for its steep Riesling slopes. The Rivaner – a classic cross between Riesling and Silvaner – is consistently bred for freshness here: short maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and brief lees aging. No oak, no heaviness.
In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow color. The nose offers aromas of light apple, a touch of quince, and a hint of blossom. On the palate, it is light, with mild acidity and dry fruit that doesn't linger – nor should it. The finish is short and clean.
