Schmitges vom Berg Riesling feinherb
This Riesling is made from selectively hand-harvested grapes, fermented at a constant 16°C for three months, forming the basis for a very elegant entry-level Riesling. Its juiciness and elegance are supported by moderate alcohol. This is how an uncomplicated, everyday Riesling should taste. Ideal with Asian cuisine. The grapes come from cooler, higher-altitude Riesling vineyards. The wine is fermented at cool temperatures to preserve its wonderful freshness. A short period of aging on the fine lees rounds off the juicy, refined fruit aromas.

The Schmitges family – sixth-generation Riesling makers, unconventional thinkers and newcomers to the industry. Andreas and Kilian focus on deliberately low yields, ungrafted vines, and meticulous vinification. Hand-harvesting, gentle processing, cool, slow, sometimes spontaneous fermentation – the result: individual Rieslings that perfectly reflect the vintage and vineyard site. Their passion lies with the steep slopes: Erdener Prälat and Erdener Treppchen. What does that mean? Up to 100 percent manual labor – not just during the harvest. Immense effort, physical exertion, and maximum passion. And you can taste it in every sip.
