Velvet red S off-dry

Samtrot is one of the great rarities of German viticulture – a natural clone of Schwarzriesling, discovered by chance near Heilbronn in the late 1920s and still cultivated almost exclusively in Württemberg. The Remstal Winery, one of the Remstal's traditional cooperatives, keeps this grape variety alive.

In the glass, the Samtrot S displays a delicate, light ruby red color. The nose offers subtle notes of red cherry, raspberry, and a hint of violet – typical of the Burgundy family to which Samtrot belongs. The slightly bitter residual sweetness makes it soft and approachable on the palate; the acidity remains moderate, and the tannins are fine and barely perceptible. The finish is short to medium-long, fruity, and fresh.

Serving temperature: 14–16 °C. Pairs well with light meat dishes such as grilled turkey schnitzel or salmon, but also with charcuterie boards featuring mild cheeses and sausages. An uncomplicated everyday wine that shines when enjoyed simply.
