Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling Kabinett Grosse Lage fruity sweet

From the steepest and warmest vineyard in the Rheingau, the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg , comes this fruity and sweet Kabinett — classified as a Grosses Lage (Grand Cru). It is precisely this combination of Prädikat character and the VDP vineyard system that makes the wine so special: ripe fruit with a delicate residual sweetness, supported by the natural tension of the slate soil.

The Geheimrat J. Wegeler wineries are among the most traditional estates in the Rheingau. The estate has cultivated vineyards on the Rüdesheimer Berg since the 19th century and is known for Riesling with a clear connection to its specific vineyard site and meticulous craftsmanship.

In the glass, the wine displays a pale straw yellow. The bouquet offers aromas of peach, ripe citrus peel, and a delicate mineral undertone—typical of the slate and quartzite soils of the vineyard. On the palate, juiciness and an elegant residual sweetness combine with lively acidity, maintaining perfect balance. This is not a heavy, cloying sweet wine, but rather a refined Kabinett with exceptional drinkability.

The 2018 vintage received multiple awards: 93 points from James Suckling , 93 points from Gault Millau , 92 points from Falstaff — Top 3 of the Kabinett Trophy 2019.
