Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling Kabinett Grosse Lage fruity sweet

From the steepest and warmest vineyard in the Rheingau, the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg, comes this fruit-sweet Kabinett — classified as a Große Lage. It is precisely this combination of Prädikat character and VDP site system that makes the wine special: ripe fruit with fine residual sweetness, carried by the natural tension of the slate rock.

The Weingüter Geheimrat J. Wegeler are among the most traditional addresses in the Rheingau. The house has been managing sites on the Rüdesheimer Berg since the 19th century and stands for Riesling with a clear site reference and artisanal precision.

In the glass, the wine shows a light straw yellow. The bouquet brings peach, ripe citrus zest, and a delicate mineral undertone — typical for the slate and quartzite soil of the site. On the palate, juiciness and an elegant residual sweetness combine with lively acidity, which keeps everything in balance. Not a heavy, sticky sweet wine, but a filigree Kabinett with real drinkability.

The 2018 vintage has been awarded multiple times: 93 points James Suckling, 93 points Gault Millau, 92 points Falstaff — Top 3 of the Kabinett Trophy 2019.
