Bernkasteler Riesling Kabinett, fruity sweet
A classic Mosel Riesling in Kabinett style: fruity sweet, light yet lively — not a heavy sweet wine, but a playful glass with a clear line.
The Geheimrat J. Wegeler wineries are among the most traditional estates on the Moselle. The vineyards around Bernkastel are known for Riesling grown on Devonian slate – a soil that imparts spice and minerality to the fruit.
In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow color. The nose offers aromas of white peach, ripe pear, and apple, along with a fresh hint of citrus zest. On the palate, the residual sweetness is light and lingering without being cloying; the acidity maintains the balance, giving the wine its vibrancy and a clean finish characterized by subtle minerality.
Serving suggestion: Slightly chilled at 8–10 °C. Ideal with Asian cuisine with a touch of spice (Thai curry, Vietnamese summer rolls), with mild blue cheese, or as a simple aperitif on warm evenings. Drink now.
