Robert Mondavi Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay

Robert Mondavi Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay
A classic Californian: Robert Mondavi's Private Selection Chardonnay combines the sun-ripened fruit of Central California with meticulous craftsmanship – for those who like Chardonnay with richness and structure.
Robert Mondavi has been a major influence on Californian wine culture since the 1960s. His Private Selection line sources its grapes from the coastal regions of Central California, where cool ocean currents slow ripening and preserve freshness. Part of the must ferments in oak barrels and ages there for eight months on the lees – the rest remains in stainless steel tanks. This creates a blend that showcases both sides of Chardonnay.
In the glass: a pale golden yellow with a hint of green. On the nose, pineapple, white peach, and citrus blossoms, along with toast and vanilla from the oak aging. On the palate, full-bodied with a soft texture and sufficient acidity to prevent it from feeling heavy. The finish is long, slightly buttery, with a caramel note.
- Temperature: 10–12 °C
- Goes well with: Pasta with cream and mushroom sauce, grilled chicken, shrimp, mild mountain cheese
- Occasion: Relaxed evening, aperitif with snacks, barbecue with friends
Robert Mondavi Winery embodies one of the most consequential ideas in modern wine history: that Napa Valley can compete with the world's great wine regions. Since its founding in 1966, the winery in Oakville, California, has worked toward precisely that goal – and proven it.
At its heart lies the legendary To Kalon Vineyard , one of North America's most prestigious vineyards. Here grows the Cabernet Sauvignon that made the estate famous: structured, age-worthy, with the unmistakable profile of Oakville soils.
