Rêve Pecorino Offida DOCG

Pecorino from the Marche – a grape variety that was long forgotten and is now one of the most exciting white wines in Central Italy. The Rêve from Velenosi shows what the Offida DOCG can achieve with this variety.

Velenosi is one of the reliable addresses in the Marche: the winery in Ascoli Piceno has been working for decades on the positioning of regional grape varieties such as Pecorino and Passerina. The Rêve is the more developed of the two styles – 50% of the grapes are fermented in new barriques made of French summer oak and then stored on the lees for about six months. The rest presumably matures in steel to maintain the aromatic freshness.

In the glass: white blossoms, ripe yellow apple, and a clear vanilla tone from the wood aging. Plus balsamic notes – a feature of well-ripened Pecorino grapes from higher altitudes. The palate shows volume and a lively acidity that keeps the wine fresh despite the use of wood. Medium-long, slightly spicy finish.
