Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selection de la Familia
The Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selección de la Familia demonstrates the complexity of a dry Spanish Tempranillo. The renowned Ramón Bilbao estate from Rioja Alta is known for wines that combine classic Spanish craftsmanship with contemporary finesse. This special bottling is a tribute to the winery's roots and clearly expresses the region's terroir in the glass.
On the nose, this red wine reveals a deep bouquet: aromas of ripe strawberries, juicy raspberries, and candied cherries mingle with floral violet notes. Barrel aging imparts subtle hints of toasted bread, vanilla, and cinnamon. On the palate, it presents a well-balanced structure, supported by fresh acidity and silky tannins. These are complemented by spice notes of cloves and nutmeg, which blend with nuances of dark chocolate and toasted wood. The finish is long, characterized by red currant, fine tobacco, and a gentle caramel creaminess.
Allow this Tempranillo to breathe in a decanter before pouring, so it can fully develop its character. Served at a temperature of 16 to 18 °C, it pairs perfectly with robust meat dishes. It goes well with braised leg of lamb with rosemary, a classic roast beef, or a piece of aged Manchego cheese.

Ramón Bilbao is one of the most influential names in Rioja. Founded in 1924 in Haro, the historic heart of Rioja Alta, the winery today represents a style that combines classic craftsmanship with modern cellar technology. Since 1999, Rodolfo Bastida has led the estate as winemaker and managing director, transforming it into one of Spain's most renowned wine brands. Mineral-rich clay soils, influenced by the Atlantic climate, give the Tempranillo grapes the structure and freshness that lend the wines their distinctive character. With 240 hectares of its own vineyards in Rioja, Rueda, and Rías Baixas, Ramón Bilbao's vision extends far beyond the borders of Rioja – and in 2018 became the first winery in Spain to be certified as a "Wineries for Climate Protection."
