Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Cabinet

From the world's most famous single Riesling vineyard: Egon Müller's Scharzhofberger Kabinett is a wine that, despite its lightness, shows astonishing depth.

The Egon Müller winery has been cultivating the Scharzhof vineyard on the Saar River since 1797 – one of the coolest and most demanding sites in Germany. The Scharzhofberg, a steep south-facing slope above the village of Wiltingen, is considered a benchmark for German Riesling: Devonian slate, extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, and minimal yields.

On the nose, candied orange, a touch of bergamot, and a subtle mineral undertone. On the palate, juicy and compact: candied citrus fruit, spice, and a vibrant fruit sweetness balanced by the cool Saar acidity. The body is refined and athletic – not a heavy wine, but one with backbone and drive. The finish is long, spicy and fruity with a hint of slate.

Drinking window: now until 2035. Best served at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with mildly spicy Asian cuisine, crayfish, pike-perch, or as an accompaniment to a tangy goat cheese.
