Egon Müller Le Gallais Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spätlese

The Wiltinger Braune Kupp is one of the great Riesling vineyards of the Saar – blue slate, steep exposure, a microclimate that produces ripeness even in cooler years. The Le Gallais winery, under the management of Egon Müller for decades, vinifies this Spätlese with the precision that has made the family a benchmark for Saar Riesling.

In the glass, this wine reveals itself as lean and vibrant: orange zest, ripe mirabelle plum, and a hint of bourbon vanilla, underpinned by a delicate minerality reminiscent of wet slate. The fruit sweetness typical of a late harvest wine remains well-integrated—the acidity of the Saar region keeps everything in balance; not a single gram of residual sugar feels heavy. The finish is saline and long, with a touch of stone fruit that lingers for minutes.

Drinking window: now until 2035, with aging potential for patient drinkers. Serving temperature 8–10 °C. Classically paired with trout poached in court bouillon or crayfish, but also with Asian dishes featuring lemongrass—the residual sweetness elegantly balances the spiciness. Those who drink it neat will find it a wine that needs no accompaniment.
