Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Cabinet
Egon Müller's Scharzhofberger Kabinett is a classic of German wine culture – delicate, precise and characterized by a minerality that hardly any other wine-growing region delivers as consistently as the Saar.
The Egon Müller winery is among the most prestigious estates on the Saar. The Scharzhofberg vineyard – a steep, south-facing slope above the village of Wiltingen – is considered one of Germany's great Riesling sites. Deeply weathered greywacke slate stores heat, releases it slowly, and leaves a distinctive mineral imprint in the wine.
In the glass, the Kabinett reveals aromas of mandarin orange, lime zest, and a hint of wet stone. The acidity is lively but without harshness – a sign of the cool nights on the Saar. Subtle honey notes on the finish reveal the typical Kabinett style: slightly sweet, yet never heavy, with a long, saline finesse.
