Wiltinger Braune Kupp Spätlese Le Gallais

A late harvest wine from one of the Saar's most distinctive single vineyards—the Wiltinger Braune Kupp belongs to the Le Gallais winery, which has been managed by Egon Müller for decades. This partnership between two Saar institutions makes the wine a classic example of German Riesling with aging potential.

The Braune Kupp vineyard lies on blue Devonian slate in Wiltingen, one of the coldest winegrowing villages on the Saar. This cool climate produces Riesling with a pronounced acidity and delicate spice—the antithesis of opulent, high-alcohol white wines. Egon Müller vinifies using traditional methods: natural fermentation, aging in large wooden casks, and no interference with the residual sweetness of a Spätlese.

In the glass, peach and ripe apricot are revealed, underpinned by white pepper and a distinct slate note. The acidity supports the sweetness without overpowering it—a balance that gives the wine length on the palate. The finish is mineral, cool, and lingers for several seconds.
