Monfalletto Barolo DOCG Magnum

Monfalletto Barolo DOCG Magnum
The Monfalletto Barolo DOCG from Cordero di Montezemolo is the estate's house wine in the best sense: a Barolo that combines the strengths of the Monfalletto vineyards in La Morra – approachable, but with the substance that characterizes Nebbiolo from Piedmont.
The Cordero di Montezemolo winery has been cultivating its vineyards around the Monfalletto hill for generations. The wines from La Morra are considered the most approachable Barolos – the clay soil imparts less tannic austerity than the calcareous marl vineyards in Serralunga or Castiglione Falletto, but more fruit and earlier drinking enjoyment.
In the glass, the Monfalletto displays ripe cherry and pomegranate, along with violet, licorice, and a hint of tar – the classic Nebbiolo profile. The tannins are present but well-integrated, and the acidity gives the wine drive and length. Medium to full-bodied, with a spicy finish of rosewood and a touch of tobacco.
The magnum bottle matures more slowly and evenly than the 0.75-liter version – ideal for occasions where more than two glasses are required, or as a cellar wine for special moments.
