Messiah's Special Reserve Port
A classic Ruby style from the Douro Valley: dark garnet red in the glass, strong fruit, velvety texture — this is how the Messias Special Reserve Port from the House of Messias, one of the traditional port wine cellars in Anadia and Vila Nova de Gaia, presents itself.
Founded in 1926, Messias is one of the few independent family-run wineries that produce both Douro still wines and Port wines in-house. The Special Reserve falls into the category of non-vintage Reserve Ports—a blend of several vintages to combine consistency and depth of maturity.
In the glass, it displays a deep garnet red with violet reflections. The nose opens with aromas of raisins, red cherries, a hint of cinnamon, and dark chocolate. On the palate, soft tannins, a noticeable but integrated sweetness, and a long, slightly spicy finish.
Serving suggestion: Serve well chilled at 14–16 °C. Pairs well with fresh goat cheese with fig mustard, dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), or Stilton. Also a good choice as a digestif after a hearty main course.
